Tunkalilla Vineyard Riesling 2008

A Riesling from the mighty Northwestern state of Oregon. I don’t know why I say mighty because I haven’t been there, but it must be if they can produce Riesling of this calibre. It stopped me in my tracks the first time I tasted it.

Beautiful beasts - Barolo & Barbaresco

A great piece on the love affair to be had with Barolo and Barbarseco. Taken from the February issue of The Australian WISH magazine, written by Angus Hughson.

ROSE petal, tea and pot pourri are among the aromatic hallmarks of the gutsy wines from the famed towns of Barolo and Barbaresco.

Two in Decanter's Top 10 French name's for value!

Very pleasing to see not one but two of Terroir's producers listed in this month's Decanter magazine feature on France's top 10 names for value. Both Château Pierre-Bise and Domaine Mas Jullien are listed in the top 10 - excellent recognition of two great producers.

Excerpts of the article are shown below.

Tunkalilla Vineyard arrives

Tunkalilla Vineyard RieslingWe are very pleased to announce the arrival of the first two vintages (2008 & 2009) of Tunkalilla Vineyard Riesling into Australia.

Produced by Brian and Ann Croser, Tunkalilla Vineyard lies in the Eola Hills of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Their focus is on Riesling, and these first two releases show that they appear to be on the right track. Lovely fine acid driven wines, with a hint of residual sugar to balance.

We will be showing these wines to the trade in the coming weeks, so contact us if you are interested.

The palate is moreish, dry and deeply flavoured, with a great wall of tannins underneath.

Ageing? Yes, two to 12 years plus.

Food ideas: Rump steak, oxtail braised in nebbiolo.

Stockists include: Blackhearts & Sparrows, Windsor, Fitzroy and Brunswich; City Wine Shop, Spring Street.

Claude Papin leads successful charge to Grand Cru status for Quarts de Chaume

Our congratulations Claude Papin who, in his role as president of the Syndicat Quarts de Chaume, has led the campaign for Quarts de Chaume to be named a Grand Cru appellation. It appears this long campaign (stretching many years) is finally set to reach fruition with the INAO voting unanimously to approve Quarts de Chaume as the first Grand Cru in Loire. Coteaux du Layon Premier Cru Chaume was also voted in favour of.
