The ARRIVO Nebbiolo wines are the culmination of Peter Godden and Sally McGill's long-held fascination with this most complex of grape varieties. They have both drawn on their extensive experience in the Australian wine industry and with the Nebbiolo variety in its native Piedmont in North Western Italy, to grow and to hand-craft wines of personality and style. Peter and Sally committed eight years of hard work and dedication to viticultural and winemaking trials before releasing their first wine, the 2004 ARRIVO Nebbiolo in October 2006. With a drive for perfection and attention to detail, the ARRIVO Nebbiolo wines are made in tiny quantities, and each has been received with tremendous critical acclaim. Terroir Selections is proud to be able to bring these hand crafted wines to the top restaurants in Australia and to independent fine wine retailers.

Rosato di Nebbiolo 2010

The intense bouquet shows notes of deep red roses, dark berry fruits, truffle and anise, and is densely fruited. The palate is generous and vibrant with sweet, dark fruit; and the floral and anise notes follow through from the bouquet. The supple, fleshy tannins and balanced acidity carry the flavours through to the long finish, with a characteristic Nebbiolo tannin/acid tweak.

The Arrivo Adelaide Hills vineyard is providing some of Australia’s leading nebbiolos. This ’08 opens with blackcurrant pastille, tar, Vietnamese mint and savoury Italianate scents that evolve more complexity with air. The palate is moreish, dry and deeply flavoured, with a great wall of tannins underneath. 

Ageing? Yes, two to 12 years plus.

Food ideas: Rump steak, oxtail braised in nebbiolo.
